Chopsaw is provided by Anton Myroshnychenko, an individual in Washington State, United States. Contact: chopsaw.support@proton.me.
Information we handle
We handle account and company information, membership and access permissions, employee names and nicknames, job sites, voice recordings and text reports, transcripts, timecards, classifications, corrections and their history. Reports may contain information about coworkers or customers. Submit only information you are authorized to share and need for reporting work.
We also handle delivery status, device and push identifiers, language and notification preferences, limited reliability events, and service/security logs. Infrastructure providers may process IP addresses and request metadata. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking tools.
Processing and AI permission
Supabase provides authentication, database, private storage and server processing. With your explicit permission, Chopsaw sends OpenAI your submitted audio for transcription, and report text or transcripts with necessary company context, such as names, nicknames, job sites and work categories, to interpret, translate and classify work. Text reports also use AI. Candidate keys are not anonymization: report content and names may identify people. Deterministic application/database rules maintain hours and permissions; AI proposes results and can make mistakes.
Microphone access is a separate device permission. Optional preliminary Apple speech recognition runs on-device, without a network fallback. Declining it does not prevent recording.
You can decline AI permission or withdraw it in Settings. Reading and exporting authorized records remain available. New report delivery and AI processing require current acceptance. Withdrawal stops new processing admissions; a request already authorized or in flight may finish and cannot be recalled. The app shows pending withdrawal while such requests remain unresolved. Withdrawal does not itself delete previously processed information or company timecards.
OpenAI has its own API retention and safety policies; we do not promise zero provider retention, a particular processing country, or an unverified provider-account setting. See OpenAI API data controls. Our service permission does not authorize using your material to train AI models.
Access and local copies
Your company controls its roles and scopes. Workers see their own authorized records; managers see records within their assigned permissions. Audio access is separately checked for the reporter, employees linked to the report's work claims and appropriately authorized managers.
The Chopsaw operator has privileged technical access for support, security, troubleshooting, recovery and data requests. The service is not end-to-end encrypted against the operator. Providers or support may process information outside your country. Disclosure may also be necessary to comply with law or protect legal rights.
For offline use, the app keeps recordings, pending reports, authorized records and sign-in state on the device. Sign-out does not automatically erase preserved evidence. Offline copies cannot always be recalled immediately after access changes. Local audio is excluded from ordinary device backup; uninstalling the app or losing the device may lose unsent recordings. Exported copies are controlled by their recipients.
Retention and deletion
The current reviewed server does not routinely delete all audio by age, and upload does not automatically remove device originals. Work records and correction history remain stored; company retention selection and automatic company-closure deletion are not operational guarantees. We have not established a guaranteed rotation/deletion deadline for every backup, security log or provider copy.
The reviewed server has a separate 30-day expiry policy for stored AI response receipts and a limited 30-day cleanup for processing diagnostic detail in the configured company. These cleanup jobs are currently disabled in the TestFlight environment. These are not a 30-day guarantee for all work records or infrastructure logs. Restricted backup copies may outlive active data. Recovery must account for prior deletions before normal access resumes.
Eligible local drafts can be discarded. An accepted report withdrawal hides it from normal server access and queues audio deletion; physical deletion is asynchronous, and previously issued playback links may remain usable until expiry. It does not erase an already processed timecard. We do not promise an unverified deletion deadline.
Contact us for access, correction, personal-data or account-deletion requests. We verify identity and explain any lawful record-retention limits. This candidate does not yet provide in-app account deletion. Removing company membership, deleting a personal account and closing a company are different actions. We do not blindly delete company hours when a person leaves.
Notifications, beta testing and age
The app may register push identifiers even while hosted push delivery is disabled. The reviewed hosted beta does not send push notifications. If enabled in a separately reviewed release, Apple receives a token and generic routing notification. Device Settings controls notification permission.
TestFlight separately collects crash/usage data and optional feedback under Apple's TestFlight privacy notice. Tester identity may be shared depending on the invitation. We use diagnostics and feedback to investigate problems.
Chopsaw is intended for workplace teams and is not directed to children under 13. Users aged 13–17 need parent or guardian authorization where required by applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information.
We will identify material changes and request new permission where the recipient or processing scope materially changes. A model change within the same approved OpenAI scope does not alone change that scope.
